Work out capacity, salt, and dosing from your own measurements. Results are estimates in litres. Test the water after any addition. Aurea Aquaristik does not sell livestock.
Tank capacity
Measure inside the glass. If the tank is not full, enter the water height as well. Rock and equipment can be subtracted afterwards.
Sand to buy
Use the inside footprint and the depth you want. Dry silica is often near 1.6 kg per litre. Use the bag if it prints a different figure. This is dry sand, not live sand.
Salt to mix
New water starts at 0 ppt. A top-up starts at whatever the bucket already reads. Many mixes use about 36 g per litre to reach 35 ppt. Dissolve it in the full volume, then check with a refractometer. Specific gravity is converted with a room-temperature approximation.
Alkalinity
Powder amounts come from molar mass. A home-made solution uses how many grams you dissolved in each litre. A shop liquid uses the strength printed on its label. Leave a gap after a calcium addition. A change above 1 dKH is split across days.
Calcium
Dissolve powder in fresh reverse-osmosis water before it goes into the tank. For a bottled liquid, use the millilitres the label says will raise 100 litres by 10 mg/L.
Magnesium
Chloride and sulfate are worked out from molar mass. Choosing both splits the magnesium evenly between them, which keeps the mix from drifting as far toward one salt.
Phosphate remover
This is a starting volume of granular ferric oxide, not a dose to dump in at once. Use less when phosphate is only a little high. The gram figure assumes a bulk density you can change.
Carbon
Granular carbon for a short run. Rinse the dust off, then replace it rather than leaving the same batch in the tank for months.
Power cost
Add each device that stays on. The watt figure next to a device name is only a starting point. Replace the rand per kilowatt-hour with the rate on your bill.
